What happens when our rivers surge and flood, ripping away the remaining topsoil of our most fertile land - only to dry out mid-summer without the perfect water storage system we have in place today (snowy peaks conveniently freezing all our water upstream).

With an unstable climate, how will we be able to grow food for our precarious population? We’ve seen shelves without toilet paper - imagine them without food. And to think, when I first heard of “global warming” in elementary school, I was petrified that I wouldn’t be able to ski with my grandchildren. Today, species are going extinct 10,000 times faster than normal.

Droughts, floods, fires, and ice storms rip through our civilization at an alarming rate. The intensity, frequency, and duration of hurricanes have been steadily increasing since the 1980s. Fires now burn yearly, blotting out the sun. In the past 143 years, the hottest years on record have all fallen between now and 2010 - with this July marking the hottest month ever.

The Hopi tribes of North America foretold a time when “A gourd of ashes dropped by westerners burns up the earth, combined with annihilation by war and endless natural disasters until humanity wakes up.”
